Understanding Shame, part 5: Healing emotional trauma
It is possible to be healed from toxic shame and emotional trauma, but the process is never easy. For certain, covering up the trauma with symptom relievers won't heal the underlying trauma. The healing has to come from the inside-out, with patience and perservance, through the experience of at least one healthy relationship, guided by someone who has made the journey before you. It's an incredibly difficult journey that not many people have the courage to take, but if you do, you can find freedom from your emotional pain that you never imagined.
