Racial disparities in breastfeeding rates share roots with overall racial health disparities

The roots of racial disparity in breastfeeding rates among Blacks and Whites share those of overall racial health disparities, according to an American study published in the Maternal and Child Health Journal. The lack of paid parental leave was implicated as a major hindrance to establishing breastfeeding relationships.
