MOTHER'S DAY STROLL FROM BEST FOR BABES FOUNDATION
On Saturday, May 10th the Best for Babes Foundation will host the 1st Nationwide Miracle Milk Mother's Day Stroll in parks and malls nationwide. The Stroll is intended to showcase the power of human milk - whether by breastfeeding, pumping, using, or donating - and the urgent need, especially for preemies and compromised infants, to receive it. The organizers are also raising awareness about the 500 premature infants that die annually from Necrotizing Entercolitis (NEC), and help prevent 5,000 babies each year from contracting this potentially deadly disease. NEC is a painful bowel inflammation that can require multiple surgeries to remove dead tissue, and may result in organ failure and months-long neonatal intensive care unit stays. Feeding human milk (whether from the mother or by donor) to fragile and compromised babies has been shown to reduce the risk of NEC by 79%.
