How Your Support Makes a Difference

- Released an updated Attached at the Heart new book edition, the primary text for Leaders and go-to resource on AP
- Launched a new API website (coming Monday!), now mobile and social media friendly, with support group locations and meeting times at parents' finger tips
- Released the first issue of the new Journal of Attachment Parenting, bringing the latest research to parents and professionals
- Launched APITV video channel, reaching many parents with additional information
- Supported 72 support groups and 150 Leaders, and accepted 100 new Leader Applicants, reaching thousands of parents each month
- Welcomed many new volunteers on staff, enabling us to do more with the resources we have
- Launched Attached at the Heart Parent Education Program pilot trainings in three cities and began the important data collection phase
- Launched the API Warmline, to provide personal support to parents in need
- Developed Spanish language safe sleep materials and preparing to release them
- Launched resources on attachment parenting and relationships
- Undertook awareness-raising T-shirt campaign, reaching audiences beyond our own community
- Advocated for safe sleep, parent support, child welfare, child mental health, and more
- Hosted “Parenting Creatively” month-long awareness-raising campaign, featuring research, daily tips, inspiring photos and posts, partnerships that helped parents trust their instincts
- Released Attached Family magazine issues on “Lovingly Uniquely” and “Parenting Support”
- Hosted API Live! Teleseminars with Dr. Laura Markham and Ingrid Bauer on positive discipline and nonviolent communication
- Launched Leader Mentor program to support new leaders and new groups
- Welcomed three new Board members
- And continued all the great programs accrediting leaders, publishing articles, enewsletters, and blog posts, hosting book discussions, presenting at conferences, and holding support group meetings every month all over the world.
With your support, some of our plans for 2014 include:
- Continue sharing new programs, serving as a resource to professionals and other organizations, providing free membership, and sustaining and expanding to greater numbers of families the daily vital prevention services API provides
- Celebrate API's 20th anniversary at a 4-day conference on Cherishing Parents, Flourishing Children with University of Notre Dame
- Highlight in special recognition our API Leaders, past and present, for the valuable time and talents they freely give
- Launch Attached at the Heart Parent Education Program worldwide, reaching greater numbers of parents with tools and resources
- Launch "APedia" resource database to assist parents and professionals in identifying and recommending educational materials
- Launch "API Neighborhood" forum, mobile and social media friendly, for a safe, supportive online community
- Launch AP Professional Community of Practice, a forum for multidisciplinary discussion and advancement of Attachment Parenting
- Launch a blog for connecting with teens about compassion and parenting to empower future generations
- Establish endowment and nurture monthly giving for sustainability as need and demand for API's services grows
- Publish e-books on AP and child development and collected API Leader wisdom
- Upgrade API's management systems to offer greater ease and features with API online resources
- Release research on the impact of Attachment Parenting and changes in parenting information presented to parents in the media over the past 20 years
