Respond with Sensitivity
Is your child having trouble getting back into the routine of school? Take a look at his or her afterschool needs, in addition to connection time with you, to make it easier for the whole family. Mom of 3, Kelly Shealer shares her experience in this API blog post. |
Dear Reader,
We hope you enjoy this issue of API Links, including all the great World Breastfeeding Week articles--especially the one on the incredible contributions of the La Leche League founders. For the full summer issue, be sure to hit "prev" to browse all of the August and July articles.
The summer rhythm has given way to eagerness for fall, with API Live teleseminars and guests Myla and Jon Kabat-Zinn getting us back to mindfulness and parenting. Collecting AP Month auction items, sponsorships, posts and photo submissions has begun in preparation of announcing the 2016 campaign theme.
Board members are carrying the AP message forward, with President Janet Jendron's presentation at the LLL of Indiana Conference in September, Board Member Darcia Narvaez's conference at Notre Dame on Sustainable Wisdom, and cofounders Lysa Parker and Barbara Nicholson's presentation at the BirthWorks conference in October. Following the BirthWorks conference, is the next Attached at the Heart parenting educator training in Brooklyn, NY, October 18-20.
API welcomes newly accredited API Leaders and gratefully recognizes the service of many API Leaders with anniversaries this month and next. They are the heart and soul of API!
Providing continual nourishment to the heart and soul are API Publications. The latest Attached Family Magazine on "Parental Presence" is only available online right now, but prior editions of Attached Family Magazine print-on-demand issues are on sale at 20% off until August 30 with the code save20.
That's just a taste of the efforts undertaken by API to fulfill our mission in recent days, as we continue to increase access to resources and much-needed support. We look forward to sharing more with you soon about new efforts we have been working very hard on this year.
We know that you too find yourself working to educate and advocate on the importance of healthy secure attachment, from sharing articles online and commenting and moderating on posts and articles, to incorporating attachment information in your work and community, especially in your own home. We hope that our work supports your efforts and we invite you to let us know how else we can better support you.
Thank you,
Attachment Parenting International
P.S. API is hiring a Communications Coordinator and a Graphic Designer. Those interested in either position may write info@attachmentparenting.org for more information.
